Some of the most reasonable property prices on Vancouver Island can be found in Sayward. This makes affordable housing a reality. Prices, of course, vary with the type of housing and property. A variety of housing is available. If your lifestyle wants are for a condominium, single family home, acreage or farm, Sayward can accommodate you. The residences in the village are built on a slope overlooking a beautiful pond, Mt H’Kusam and Johnstone Strait. The village is adjacent to a Wildlife Protection Area that is home to a diverse selection of waterfowl. The view of the ocean from the homes on the higher part of the slope is spectacular. The valley area has many small and large acreages. Views from these vary with the terrain – mountains, streams, forests and rivers.
Labour Force Sayward is a small, family oriented community. Though historically a forest workers’ community, the population has diversified greatly in the past few years. Forestry, commercial fishing, aquaculture and tourism are the main sources of employment at present. Many workers choose to live in Sayward and work elsewhere. |
